Building Big People with Mike and Liz Webber, Church
When you sit with Mike and Liz Webber, you can feel the ease that comes from years of walking with God and with people. There’s no rush in their words, no sense of performance, just a simple conviction that the Gospel still changes lives when we make room for it to.
They said something that’s stayed with us:
“We’re not called to build big churches; we’re called to build big people.”
That’s the heartbeat of their ministry at Church.
They’ve learned that growth isn’t found in bigger rooms or louder Sundays, it’s found in the quiet work of forming people. Helping them grow strong in faith, steady in prayer, and confident in who they are in Christ.
Mike and Liz talk about the temptation to measure success by momentum, the number of faces, the amount of noise, the size of the crowd. But in their journey, they’ve learned that what lasts is what’s formed slowly. Discipleship that happens over coffee tables and kitchen benches.
Liz put it so simply…
“Sometimes we just need to rest long enough to hear God again.”
That kind of rest doesn’t come easy in ministry. But it’s in those slower moments that God reminds us what really matters, loving God and loving people.
Their story is a reminder that the Church doesn’t grow because we build harder or faster. It grows because God does what only He can and we choose to stay faithful in the small.
If we build people, God will build His Church.
